A $37 million construction project is currently underway on I-59, extending from just north of the Louisiana state line to McNeill. The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has begun a mill and overlay effort that includes pier protection for bridges, new asphalt with a drainage layer, and ramp improvements. Crews are paving the southbound lanes with shoulder paving and applying Open Grade Friction Course (OGFC) asphalt. The project, awarded to Huey P. Stockstill, is scheduled for completion in fall 2024.

Another infrastructure project in Pearl River County is the $21.9 million bridge replacement on U.S. 11 over Hobolochitto Creek. Clearing activities are nearly complete, and crews have begun earthwork and driving production piles. The new bridge will include a sidewalk with a concrete barrier for pedestrian protection. It is being constructed adjacent to the existing bridge to minimize traffic interruptions. Cotton Creek Transport of Laurel has been awarded the contract, with project completion expected by late 2025.
