At Tuesday’s city council meeting, the Picayune Police Department secured a grant from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program. The JAG program supports law enforcement initiatives nationwide as the primary source of federal justice funding for state and local jurisdictions.
The Picayune Police Department has been awarded a grant totaling $7,445, which will contribute to their ongoing efforts to enhance public safety in the community.
Police Chief Joe Quave acknowledged the grant’s significance: “The funding will be used to purchase three portable radios. We’ve gradually upgraded those through grant funds and selling antiquated equipment.”
