The Arc of Pearl River County recently hosted its annual holiday events, featuring the Arc Angels gift-giving initiative. The program, designed to bring holiday cheer to individuals with intellectual or related developmental disabilities, saw participation from various contributors, including individuals, businesses, civic organizations, and church groups.
An Arc Angel is defined as any individual or entity that extends holiday goodwill to those facing intellectual or developmental challenges. The Arc of Pearl River County directs its support to individuals receiving Medicaid waiver services and those without family assistance or unable to afford Christmas gifts.
The event attracted participants from across Pearl River County, providing a platform for individuals to contribute to those who may find themselves without company during the holidays. Beyond generosity, the occasion emphasized a sense of community and shared responsibility.
Picayune Mayor Jim Luke was among the contributors, marking the program’s third consecutive year. Mayor Luke’s participation underscores the city’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable community members during the holiday season.
The Arc Angels gift-giving event highlights the effectiveness of community collaboration and a collective commitment to spreading holiday joy. As participants continue to engage year after year, it underscores the community’s dedication to ensuring that everyone can partake in the holiday spirit, regardless of their circumstances.
