The Friends of the Margaret Reed Crosby Memorial Library is preparing to host its annual book sale, which will start on April 29.

The book sale will last for one week and will take place at the Margaret Reed Crosby Memorial Library and Cultural Center in Picayune.

Pearl River County Library System Director Carol Phares said the purpose of the book sale is to raise funds for the library’s book budget.

“At this moment, our book budget consists of $0,” Phares said. “We add new books to the library either through donations of the Friends of the Library or donations from the community.”

During this year’s book sale, people in attendance will be able to find books from different genres ranging from science fiction, drama, mystery, action and others.

Phares reminds the public that the sale will include audiotapes, CD’s, DVD’s and even VHS tapes.

Friday morning, volunteers were in the process of moving boxes of books from the back of the library to Holland Hall, where the sale will be held. Over the next couple of days, the volunteers will unpack every single box, put up signs and help with other tasks to get ready for the book sale.

“I encourage people to come out and volunteer because we need all the help we can get in order to get ready,” Phares said.

On Sunday, April 29, the book sale will be open only to members of Friends of the Library from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. To join Friends, Phares said membership costs $5.

The sale will open to the rest of the public starting Monday April 30, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day of the week until May 5, except on Tuesday, May 1st, when the library will be open until 7 p.m.
