The Pearl River Central High School NJROTC will host a Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 10.
The event will take place on PRC’s football stadium from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the gates opening at 9 a.m.
“Each class will perform a ceremonial piece which will include a flag pulling, just like in the Army,” Naval science instructor Ron Hazlewood said. “We have held this event for many years and everyone in the community is invited to attend.”
Attendees will be seated in the stands and every branch of the armed forces will be recognized, Hazlewood said.
“We look to honor any veteran who has served or is currently serving in the armed forces,” Hazlewood said. “I invite all students, families and veterans to attend our ceremony on Friday morning.”
The PRC NJROTC participates in multiple activities across the community throughout the year. Some of the activities include drill meets, fundraisers, academic events, the push-up team at football games and area cleanups.
“People think that you only join ROTC if you plan on going into the Army and that’s inaccurate,” Hazlewood said. “NJROTC is a citizenship program where we help members develop social and leadership skills that they will use in life after high school and we help them get a head start.”
