The Knights of Columbus of Picayune will host an appreciation lunch for all veterans in the community on Nov. 9.
The lunch will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kaycee Hall, which is located behind Dockside Seafood and Specialties at 408 Carroll St.
“The menu will include Ray’s Famous pulled pork with corn, beans and bread with different beverage options such as sweet tea, unsweet tea and coffee,” 4th degree faithful navigator Raymond Rivero said.
The Knights of Columbus is a non-profit organization, which holds a number of fundraisers throughout the year in order to help different charities throughout town and has been around the since the 1950’s.
The biggest fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus is bingo night, which takes place every Monday at the Kaycee Hall.
Fund collected during the events are donated to the Sav-A-Life center and others.
Donations to Sav-A-Life allowed the center to purchase ultrasound machines.
The Knights of Columbus also prepare more than 100 food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas, which are given to less fortunate citizens in town. The organization also hosts a Thanksgiving dinner at Saint Charles Borrromeo Catholic Church, where families can come and enjoy a traditional dinner, Rivero said.
Once a month, the Knights host a Seminary breakfast where all the funds collected are given to individuals attending Seminary school to become a priest.
“I’m excited for this event, everyone who will be there will have a good time,” Rivero said.
