Dr. William Creighton Claycomb

Memorial services for Dr. William Creighton Claycomb, 73, of Carriere, MS who passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 will be held, February 6, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.
Services are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Bro. Carl Heberg will officiate at the service.
A native of Cincinnati, OH, Dr. Claycomb obtained his doctorate in Zoology from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1969. He pursued Biological Chemistry as a Research Associate at the Harvard Medical School, where he was
a NIH postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Claycomb then joined LSU Health Sciences Center where he was a professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He was also a proud and established investigator of the American Heart Association. Dr. Claycomb was a dedicated researcher and published numerous scientific articles in his field.
Apart from his work, Dr. Claycomb loved nature. Over the years, he released into the wild a number of injured owls and hawks that he nursed back to health.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Ann Burton-Claycomb; parents, Robert Claycomb and Laura Lentz Claycomb.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Dr. J. Barry Claycomb and family; daughter, Dacia Alice Claycomb and three grandchildren.
