Authorities with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department recovered a stolen camper from Paw Paw’s Campers and Cars in Picayune last month, which resulted in the arrest of two suspects on drug related charges.
On Oct. 11, detectives with the department’s narcotics division received information that a 2016 Forest River Palomini brand camper was stolen from the lot at Paw Paw’s, Sheriff David Allison said.
At 10:30 p.m. that day, detectives observed a blue Dodge Caravan traveling southbound on Highway 43 towing a camper matching the description of the camper that was reported stolen, Allison said.
When a deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, detectives were able to identify the camper as the one reported stolen. Through further investigation, detectives discovered the driver, 29-year-old Sterling Clint Emery of 105 Elmwood St., and passenger, 32-year-old Heidi Kennedy of 147 Tennyson Cove, to be in possession of a schedule three controlled substance, Allison said. Examples of schedule three drugs are products containing less than 90 milligrams of codeine per dosage unit, ketamine, anabolic steroids and testosterone, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Both suspects were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of stolen property, Allison said.
The camper was stolen from the business sometime between Oct. 7 and 11. The camper was recovered and returned to Paw Paw’s, Allison said.
