People can escape the real world and relax under the healing powers of hot stones and aromatherapy at Therapeutic Massage in Picayune.

Jennifer A. Holifield, owner and licensed massage therapist, found her calling when she learned about the viable career options in massage therapy.

“My friend told me about it, and I was like ‘you can get paid to massage people’s backs?’” Holifield said.

While Holifield had a background in advertising, she said she always held an interest in the healthcare field.

“This is my way I can help people and make them feel better,” Holifield said.

She pursued her passion and received certification in massage therapy from Blue Cliff College located in Gulfport. From 2008 to 2010, she worked alongside A New Creation Salon to offer services in massage therapy before taking a hiatus to raise a family.

In 2015, she decided to venture out on her own. She opened Therapeutic Massage this past June.

The first-time business owner credits her success to her mentors who’ve guided her along the way towards making her dream a reality, including her business savvy parents and the owner of A New Creation.

Therapeutic Massage offers a variety of services such as massages and hot stone massages, including paraffin wax and aromatherapy.

Holifield hopes to offer more services and increase her clientele in the near future.

Therapeutic Massage offers gift certificates, perfect for the upcoming holiday season, and massage packages. New clients receive $5 off their first massage. Each massage costs $1 per minute, Holifield said.

Therapeutic Massage is located at 122 A North Curran Ave. and is open Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only.
