A Poplarville woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Sunday afternoon. Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Benjamin Seibert said troopers responded to the crash at 12:57 p.m. and found a heavily damaged Nissan Altima and an overturned freightliner on Hwy. 26 near Kirk Road in Poplarville.
Seibert said the Nissan Altima, driven by 51-year-old Robin Harriel, reportedly slowed down on Hwy. 26 eastbound to make a left turn onto Kirk Road when a freightliner, attempting to switch lanes to avoid the vehicle, crashed into the left rear of the Nissan. As a result, the freightliner overturned but the driver wasn’t injured, Seibert said.
Harriel was transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries, Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said.
