The Senior Center of South Pearl River County, along with St. Joseph Hospice, will host the 2nd annual senior appreciation shrimp boil on July 24 starting at 11:45 a.m.
During the event, guests will feast on 180 pounds of shrimp provided by St. Joseph Hospice. There will also be corn, potatoes, drinks and dessert, said Darlene Adams, the center’s executive director.
Adams encourages public officials and seniors to attend the event honoring senior citizens in the community.
“It’s going to be a big thank you celebration to seniors that make a difference in the community and those who assist in contributing to our seniors,” Adams said.
Officials from the city, county, law enforcement and fire departments are all invited to attend and will be recognized for their efforts in assisting the local senior community, Adams said.
During the event, there will be live entertainment and karaoke, Adams said.
The center is located at 45 El Patch Parkway. Since parking is limited, Adams asks interested parties to RSVP by calling the center at (601) 798-9892.
