The Mississippi Cameo Club will be hosting “New York to Nashville: A Cabaret” on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The show will be held at the Pittman Family Life Center, located at 498 North Haugh Avenue, across from the First United Methodist Church.
The show will serve as a fundraiser for the Ms. Senior Mississippi pageant, which will take place in Picayune on July 11, said Debbie Craig board member of Picayune on Stage. Picayune on Stage is a community theater group.
Craig brings a lot of experience to the table when it comes to performing because she taught theater and speech at Pearl River Central for 20 years.
The members of the Cameo Club are all past Ms. Senior Mississippi State queen winners, and each year must come up with a fundraising idea.
“Each year we raise about $2,000 for the new state queen to go to Atlantic City to compete in the Ms. Senior America Pageant, which takes place in October,” said Craig.
The Ladies of the Mop, a 15-minute comedy sketch to be performed at the show, features Jessica Lacour, Bonnie Hughes, Dolly Kingsley and Gladys Hughes. Lacour as well as Bonnie and Gladys Hughes are previous Ms. Senior Mississippi pageant winners, said Craig.
Other acts in Sunday’s show include the Delta Rockers, a dance group from Greenwood, Mississippi, the Piney Wood Cloggers, X-Finity Dance School and Sunni’s Elite Dance School of Poplarville.
The show will be about two hours long with a total of 14 acts, said Craig.
Tickets will be available at the door for $10, which includes a dessert buffet. Tickets can also be purchased in advance at Family Furniture on Highway 11 North in Picayune.
