On Friday, the Picayune Writers Group hosted a book signing at the Senior Center of South Pearl River County.
Four local authors invited guests to take a literary journey through the worlds of science fiction, travel, romance, southern charm and murder mystery.
Not only is Lynne Barze’ the owner and operator of Barze’ Place Antiques and Collectibles Mall, she is also the author of two science fiction novels, “Revenge and Perseverance: Lethal DNA released on North America” and “The Ohualuans.”
Barze’ said she has been writing since she was 10-years old. She retired from the Department of Defense and is married to Ted Barze’. The couple has one son and three grandchildren.

Seated next to Barze’, was Mavis. E Smith, who landed in Picayune via Canada and England.
She is the author of “From Across the Pond and Beyond,” a story about how her family immigrated from England to Montreal and finally the United States.
Smith is also the author of a children’s book entitled, “Inspector Ace and Sergeant Bubba.” The book is about two dogs, a German shepherd and Pomeranian who are best friends.
“The children’s book teaches children about friendship, bullying and handling differences and foreign languages,” Smith said.

Laura Ewald moved to Picayune about three months ago and published her first novel in 1990. She composes books centered on the themes of Christian romance and science fiction.

Pearl River County author Mary Beth Magee is the author of “Death in the Daylilies,” a fictional murder mystery set in Cypress Point, Miss.
