Huntington Ingalls Industries has been awarded a $13 million contract for continued work on the U.S. Navy’s Zumwalt (DDG 1000) class of destroyers.
This is a modification to a previously awarded contract. Work will be performed at Ingalls Shipbuilding yards in Pascagoula and Gulfport.
The work for this contract will provide technical and industrial engineering in the interpretation and application of the detail design to support construction and the maintenance of the ship design.
Ingalls is building the deckhouse, hangar and peripheral vertical launch systems for DDG 1000 and DDG 1001, with plans to build a third. The deckhouse for DDG 1000 is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2012.
The destroyers are ultimately assembled by Bath Iron Works in Maine.
