Slip fees for the Ocean Springs Harbor are going up for boat owners, a move that is expected to increase overall harbor income for the county by 23 percent.
Jackson County supervisors, who control the rates at the county-owned harbor, said Monday the fees will change as recommended by the Harbor Commission.
The slip fee will change from $4 per foot of slip width to $2.50 per foot of boat length, a change that will bring in an additional $32,000 in harbor revenue. Currently harbor slip fees bring in about $140,000 a year.
Officials say rates haven’t gone up at the harbor in more than seven years.
