A stolen four-wheeler prompted a high speed chase while information provided by an alleged drug-dealing suspect lead to two arrests, including the suspect’s.

The first incident took place on Thursday when Pearl River County deputies were dispatched to the area of Will Thompson Road to respond to a call concerning a stolen four-wheeler in the bed of a Nissan pickup, according to a press release from the department.

The victim of the theft was driving behind the pickup talking to the 911 operator until he lost contact with the truck. However a deputy came into contact with the truck on U.S. 11 in the Carriere area, the release states.

In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the deputy activated his lights, after the vehicle failed to slow or stop the deputy activated his siren. The pursuit continued onto Alphabet Avenue, when the suspect nearly struck a vehicle attempting to turn onto U.S. 11 from Alphabet Ave. After proceeding down Alphabet, the driver entered a church parking lot, drove over the curb and entered a field.

About 200 yards into the field the vehicle came to stop and the driver, identified as Stanley Spoo, 21, of 202 Ruston Rd., jumped from the vehicle and ran. Spoo was captured on the 100 block of Ruston Road after a foot pursuit.

After being taken into custody, Spoo was charged with felony fleeing in a motor vehicle, failure to yield to blue lights, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest by fleeing, driving while license suspended and no seat belt.

The Picayune Police Department was notified of the incident since the theft of the four-wheeler took place in the city limits, the release states. Picayune Police Department Public Information Officer Capt. Theresa Milar said the department has a hold on Spoo as a suspect for the grand larceny of the four-wheeler. In relation to the stolen four-wheeler, the department has arrested Kevin Hernandez, 20, of 26 Justin Rd., Carriere, and a 16 year-old juvenile. They are both charged with the grand larceny of the four-wheeler.

In a separate incident, deputies, acting on information provided by concerned citizens, intercepted a drug transaction where Henry Saunders, 32, of 22016 Magee Dr., Saucier, allegedly was observed making a sale to an individual, according to a press release from the department.

When Saulters was detained, he told investigators that he knew the location of additional drugs, the release states.

Investigators took Saulters to 40 Hodnette Ln., Poplarville, the home of Larry Hall, 34, who gave the investigators permission to search the home. Investigators found a large quantity of methamphetamine during the search.

Both Saulters and Hall were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
