The Crosby Arboretum will host its Holiday Open House on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Robin Veerkamp, a spokesperson for the Arboretum, said in a phone interview Wednesday that the event is mainly to allow the public to come tour the facility and purchase gifts that are crafted by local people. Veerkamp said snacks such as cookies, vegetable trays and cheeses will be provided, as well as hot apple cider.
“It’s really to introduce the Arboretum to those who have never been here. We will have various merchandise from local vendors and artists, such as gourd art, soaps, paintings and drawings,” Veerkamp said.
According to a press release from the Arboretum, admission to the event is free, and the gift shop will have its annual sale for the public.
“Experience the arboretum grounds, aglow with fall color and sparkling with winter berries. … You will certainly find the perfect gift for that someone special,” states the release.
Veerkamp was uncertain how many years the Arboretum has been hosting the open house, but said it has been several years.
“I’ve been handling it for six years, and it went several years before that. This is probably our tenth year,” Veerkamp said.
