Miss. tax revenue below estimates in Feb.

Tax collections in Mississippi fell below estimates in February as $247.9 million went into the general fund last month, according to the state Tax Commission.
February’s figures were $9.7 million, or 3.79 percent, below estimates. It does not include revenue from other sources, such as rent from state agencies and interest money.
Total tax collections in January were $6.2 million below what was anticipated.
Most of Mississippi’s revenue is from sales taxes and sales taxes were $1.6 million below estimates last month.
The state is $113 million, or 3.9 percent, below estimates for the fiscal year that runs through June 30.
