Authorities say the wife of a prominent Jackson businessman has been indicted on two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of aggravated assault in a Feb. 11 wreck that killed two doctors.
Hinds County Circuit Court officials confirmed the indictment Friday.
Police say a car driven by Karen Irby slammed head-on into a truck carrying Dr. Mark Pogue, a third-year resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and his fiancee, Dr. Lisa Dedousis, a resident at Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey.
Pogue and Dedousis were pronounced dead at the scene.
Irby’s husband, Stuart Irby, was a passenger in her car. Both Irbys survived but required extensive medical care. The aggravated assault charge is related to her husband’s injuries.
