Pascagoula City Council member Bill Jones has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a May 11 arrest and has been fined $371.

Jones was arrested at the Pascagoula Point by Mississippi Department of Marine Resources officers. He was charged with being drunk in public, failure to obey the lawful order of a police officer and operating a boat without navigation lights.

Jones had initially pleaded innocent to the charges during a June hearing. He later changed his pleas to guilty.

Jackson County Prosecutor Mark Watts asked that the public drunkenness charge be dropped and Justice Court Judge Jason Thornton dismissed it.
