Wilmon  Abram

Wilmon Abram was born on April 24, 1937, to Carrie B. Abram and Samuel Abram Jr. in Pearl River County. He accepted Christ at an early age at White Chapel Baptist Church and in later years he worshipped at New Welcome Baptist Church. He completed his education at Globe Academy. Wilmon was a foot soldier in the Army for eight years, a member of the Army National Guard, and VFW Post #5393 for many years.

He was a lifetime member of the NAACP, Pearl River County Branch. Wilmon was married to Beverly Ann Jordan Abram for 26 years. They enjoyed life and all that it could offer. The matrimony and love lasted until death. “He who finds a wife finds a good thing,” Proverbs 18:22

Wilmon was preceded in death by his mother Carrie B. Abram and father, Samuel R. Abram Jr. and brother James Abram.

Wilmon was a quiet, respectful, courteous and God-fearing man who was always willing to go out his way to help others. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, performing traditional trades like raising sugar cane, bailing hay and raising farm animals. He was a devoted husband, loving father, dedicated brother and a trusted friend to many.

Wilmon departed this earthly realm while in hospice care at Lake View Hospital in Covington, La., April 15, 2025. He leaves to cherish in his memory his wife, Beverly Ann Jordan Abram; two children, Matthew R. Abram (Sherry) of Chicago Ill.; Jerome C. Jordan of Poplarville, Miss.; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Sara Peters; Lee Ella Bryant, Hazel Lewis (Quitman); four brothers; Samuel R. Abram (Beverly), Donald Abram (Karan), Leon Abram; sister-in-law, Margo Abram and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Wilmon Abram will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 2 p.m. at New Welcome Baptist Church, 12 Whitesand Road, Poplarville, Miss. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at White Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
