Two Arrested on Drug Charges Following Shoplifting Investigation

Two individuals were arrested on drug-related charges Friday, Jan. 25, 2025, following an investigation into a shoplifting incident, according to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.
Narcotics investigators assisted the Patrol Division in locating a shoplifting suspect, who led them to 28 Red Neck Hill. Upon arrival, officers contacted the suspect, Courtney Lynn Herbert, 40, and another individual on the scene, Consuelo Cox, 52.
During the investigation, investigators searched a vehicle near the two suspects’ standing. A plastic bag containing what appeared to be methamphetamine was discovered near the suspects.
Herbert and Cox were subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
The investigation into the shoplifting incident and the discovery of narcotics remains ongoing. The Sheriff’s Department has not provided additional details regarding the stolen items.
Both suspects remain in custody as they await further legal proceedings. Authorities emphasized their commitment to addressing drug-related crimes in the community.
