Representatives from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI’s Jackson Field Office spoke with students at Pearl River County High School on Monday about the risks and challenges associated with social media.

The presentation, attended by high school and middle school students, addressed the potential dangers of social media use and emphasized the importance of understanding its implications. Students participated actively, asking questions related to the topic.

This discussion follows social media threats made in September when the Pearl River Central and Picayune school districts responded to threats targeting their middle and high schools on Snapchat. No credible threats were identified after local, state, and federal law enforcement investigations.

The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the FBI and the school district for facilitating the event to teach students how to navigate online platforms safely and responsibly.
