Pearl River County Board of Supervisors Approves Grants for Law Enforcement, Parks, and Public Safety

The Pearl River County Board of Supervisors approved multiple grant requests during its regular meeting on Monday, although Supervisor Donald Hart was absent.

Among the approved items was a $13,600 grant to purchase digital forensics equipment for the Sheriff’s Department as part of the Sole Source of Data Pilot program. The equipment will aid in criminal investigations.

The board also approved a $59,348 grant through the Alcohol 154 Program to purchase DUI enforcement equipment, further supporting the county’s efforts to combat impaired driving.

A $20,000 grant for the Occupant Protection Program was approved. The grant aims to enhance seatbelt enforcement and safety measures across the county.

Additionally, the board accepted a $4,958.54 grant from the Lower Pearl River Valley Foundation, which will be used to purchase first-aid trauma kits for emergency responders.

A significant $150,000 Recreational Trails Program Grant was also approved. This grant will fund the development of Carriere Park and its walking trails, providing new recreational opportunities for residents.
