Area musical theater fans will be delighted to learn that Picayune Theatre Company’s production of Annie will be making its debut on October 24th. This widely celebrated show captivates audiences of all ages, and the Picayune Theatre company has put its unique spin on the beloved story. “We wanted to bring this classic tale to life in a way that resonates with our community, highlighting themes of family, resilience, and hope,” said Creative Director Nathan Sandercock.

This show has been a true labor of love, with cast members, choreographers, and directors pouring their hearts into the award-winning musical from day one. “Every production comes with its own set of challenges and exciting opportunities,” Sandercock remarked. “For Annie, collaboration has been key.” He and his team have worked tirelessly with the cast to bring this show to life, kicking off auditions in July and beginning rehearsals as soon as roles were cast in early August.

Creating a show of this caliber is hard work, but cast members agree it’s more than worth it. Cody Guidry, who plays the role of Rooster, expressed his excitement about sharing the show with audiences when it hits the stage. “I’m loving the process of bringing Rooster to life,” he shared. “I believe every role, no matter the size, can make a huge impact when played with passion and dedication.” The fulfillment Guidry and his fellow cast members find in their work is plain to see, and it’s witnessing that enthusiasm come alive onstage that makes musical theatre so enjoyable for audiences.

The Picayune Theatre Company is a nonprofit that can produce shows like Annie, thanks to local support through ticket sales, donations, and sponsorships. “I’m grateful to the Picayune community for showing up and supporting us. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them,” Sandercock said.
