The Picayune Police Department announced it will soon receive a new bloodhound from East Coast K9 in Edgecomb, N.C. The six-year-old bloodhound, Penny, is being donated to the department at no cost, saving the city and department several thousand dollars.
Penny will be used on a case-by-case basis and not on regular patrol. Officer Daniel Quave is expected to be her handler and is in Picayune preparing for her arrival.
“This is the result of great relationships we’ve built,” said Police Chief Joe Quave. “It’s a significant savings for our department, and we look forward to the additional resource Penny will provide.”
The addition of Penny will enhance the department’s capabilities, particularly in search and rescue operations.
