The Picayune Police Department initiated an investigation on June 5, 2024, following the reported theft of a four-wheeler ATV and a dirt bike.

Patrol officers and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division canvassed the area for evidence and sought information from the community. Officers received tips from local citizens, which led them to the stolen four-wheeler in a wooded area off Washington Street.

Surveillance video obtained during the investigation showed Burl N. Richardson taking the ATVs. Richardson, who has a record of arrests for theft, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of grand larceny. He is being held in the Pearl River County Jail.

Police will request the revocation of Richardson’s previous bonds related to his prior theft charges.
