The Pearl River County Welcome Center will host an “Outdoor Adventure Afternoon” on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM as part of National Travel & Tourism Week. Most events will be held on the Welcome Center’s southeast lawn.
MOTOHOUSE Picayune and Dad’s Camper Outlet will display a range of power sports and camping vehicles for public viewing. Agents from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will be present to answer questions about hunting and fishing seasons, requirements, and licensing.
Joy Lines, Coordinator of the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s Litter Prevention Program, will distribute “Don’t Trash Mississippi” themed coloring books and giveaways to children.
Attendees can listen to music by Mississippi native Lynn Drury, who released her latest album, High Tide, earlier this year. Musician Shane Ross Drury will also perform.
Inside the Welcome Center, Stennis Space Center will have a display highlighting its role in testing engines for the Artemis Moon Rocket. Artemis-themed handouts and giveaways will be available at the NASA table.
Mississippi-themed door prizes will be raffled throughout the afternoon, and various local organizations will participate.
The public is invited to visit the Pearl River County Welcome Center during National Travel & Tourism Week. The Center is located at Mile Marker 3 on I-59 N and is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.
