Officer Justin Miller of the Picayune Police Department recently graduated from the FBI Firearms Instructor School. He was one of 44 officers across Mississippi to complete this year’s course.
With this achievement, Miller joins a select group of four officers at the Picayune Police Department who have undergone this specialized training in recent years.
The Firearms Instructor Training Program (FITP), administered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is designed to equip newly assigned firearms instructors with the comprehensive knowledge and skills necessary for effective law enforcement firearm instruction. The program encompasses firearm familiarization, maintenance, teaching techniques, and the identification and resolution of shooting errors.
Officer Miller’s journey to this achievement was not an easy one. Over the course of 10 intense training days, he was fully immersed in a rigorous curriculum designed to enhance his proficiency and readiness in firearm instruction.
Miller’s successful completion of the FITP demonstrates his commitment to professional development and furthering law enforcement capabilities within the Picayune community.
