Graveside Funeral Services for Dr. Jacqueline Marie Pizzano-Moses, age 77, of Picayune, MS, who passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020, were held Monday, June 29, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at New Palestine Cemetery.
Burial was in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Bishop Stephen Beasley will officiate the service.
Dr. Jacqueline Marie Pizzano-Moses graduated from Ursuline Academy, St. Mary’s Dominican College, Tulane University, George Peabody College of Teaching and The Education Department of Vanderbilt University. She was employed in 1968 by the Jefferson Parish School System and taught for seven years and was promoted to Principal of several schools.
Later she was appointed by the Louisiana State Legislator to manage as Principal, two schools at a time. Dr. Pizzano-Moses proudly organized the Teachers Union and she and her family helped to get President Donald H. Trump elected.
Dr. Pizzano-Moses was married for 39 years to William S. “Bill” Moses, Jr. They have three children, Jennifer Lynn Moses, Rebecca Shaw Moses and William S. J. “Trey” Moses. Between them they have five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Dr. Pizzano-Moses parent’s were John “Jack” Pizzano and Inez Marie Commander Pizzano. Inez had two girls, Jacqueline M. Pizzano and Louise Roselie Pizzano. Her grandparents were Joseph Pizzano and Nicolina Belluscio Pizzano. Joseph and Nicolina had six boys, all decorated in battle during World War II. The other grandparents are Anthony Camarda Commander and Rosa Lestrade Commander. The family has been in the restaurant business since the early 1700’s including Commander Palace, Delmonico’s and the Bon Ton in New Orleans, Louisiana. Also the family owned the Orange Grove Plantation selling crops in Italy and brought back Italians from Sicily and Ustica. Hurricane Katrina brought the Moses family to Picayune, including her mother-in-law, Carol Shaw Moses and Bill’s twin brother Kendall Roy Moses and his daughter, Dr. Kelsey Moses.
