The Picayune Civic Woman’s Club Christmas Pilgrimage will feature Santa, snowmen and long cherished nativities.
The 31st annual pilgrimage will raise money for two $1,500 scholarships. One will go to a senior at Pearl River Central High School and one will be awarded to a senior at Picayune Memorial High School, said event chairperson Teresa Adams.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. The pilgrimage is Dec. 7 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Attendees can visit any of the three homes and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on the tour during that time frame, said event co-chair Suzy Dyle.
The pilgrimage will feature Mr. and Mrs. Michael Miller’s home at 60 Long Lake Dr. in Carriere, Billy and Linda Sheffield’s home at 206 Boley Dr. in Picayune and Ms. Sandy Shaw’s home at 215 East Lakeshore Dr. in Carriere.
The Miller’s home will display a collection of nativities and will celebrate the theme “Mississippi Christmas,” with artwork from Columbus, Miss.
The Sheffield’s late 1950s home will feature a collection of Radko Christmas dinnerware and a variety of seraphim angels, along with a pair of festively decorated trees.
In the Shaw’s home, each bedroom will be decorated with a different theme, including Santa’s Toyland and a snowman collection fit for the North Pole.
The featured church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and will be decorated for the season of Advent. The building includes work of Mississippi craftspeople like a Celtic cross.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from Civic Woman’s Club members or at Melinda’s Fine Gifts.
