Kayla Thigpen, a firefighter with the Carriere Volunteer Fire Department, sustained life-threatening injuries in a car accident Tuesday and was airlifted to Forest General, according to a public Facebook post.
When Chief Deputy Shane Tucker was asked about the accident, he said the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department responded to the single-vehicle accident on McNeil Steephollow near Ophelia Lee Circle yesterday. An initial investigation showed the vehicle was traveling west when it left the road for an unknown reason and hit a tree, Tucker said.
