Funeral Services for Gladys Gayle Kenmar Smith, age 81, of Byrd’s Chapel Community, MS, who passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019, will be held Monday, March 25, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Lee’s Chapel #1 Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm at Lee’s Chapel #1 Missionary Baptist Church; and also Monday, March 25, 2019, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, with services at 2:00 pm.
Burial will be in Lee’s Chapel #1 Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Bro. Cody Ladner will officiate the service, assisted by Bro . Wayne Williams, and Bro . Jim Byrd.
A native of Byrd’s Chapel Community, MS, she was a Homemaker and a member of Lee’s Chapel #1 Missionary Baptist Church. Gladys loved her church, and her church family, was a faithful pianist, she also loved sports, the mountains, gospel singing, playing the piano, and supporting her grandchildren.
Gladys was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph S. Kenmar and Zelda Jarrell Kenmar; her husband of 51 years, George W. Smith; her daughter-in-law, Bridget Smith; and her brothers-in-law, Carey White, and Curt Harvey.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, George Smith, Diane (Bruce) Burge, Faye (Videt) Robbins, Daryl (Allison) Smith, and Hope Walton; 8 grandchildren, Allison (Keith) Meitzler, Kristopher (Joell) Robbins, Stephanie (Mark) McCain, Justin Miller, Brandon Robbins, Jacob Spiers, Blake (Jessica) Spiers, and Jonathan Smith; 11 great grandchildren, Karsen Robbins, Leagon Robbins, Cooper McCain, Easton McCain, Hadley Meitzler, Harper Meitzler, Brylie Miller, Vayda Spiers, Verny Spiers, Jaxon Miller, and Gunner Havard; her sisters, Jerry White, Loreta Kenmar, Vonceil (Jim) Byrd, and Brenda Harvey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
