Jeramey Anderson will soon be traveling to Poplarville and Picayune for part of his “People’s Tour.” He is currently a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives for District 106 and is the Democratic candidate for a seat in Congress to represent District 4.
Because he is seeking a seat in Congress, Anderson will be visiting 19 cities within the 14 counties that make up District 4. His tour will take place over seven days and will begin with a kick-off celebration in Moss Point on Oct. 18.
Anderson will be making two stops in Pearl River County, one in Poplarville and one in Picayune. On Sept. 19 Anderson will be at Green Grove Church at 249 Todd St., in Poplarville from noon to 1:30 p.m. Pearl River County Democratic Party Chair Agnes Dalton said via email that she hopes people from both Poplarville and Lumberton will take advantage of that event.
The next day, from 6 to 7 p.m. Anderson will stop in at Coach Eddie Young’s Gym at 144 Luther Davis Dr. in Picayune. Both events will be hosted by the Pearl River County Federation of Democratic Women.
Anderson said the goal of this tour is to have an opportunity to meet with voters in District 4 and hear their concerns.
“I want to connect with voters that have traditionally been disenfranchised for far too long in the District,” Anderson said. “We’re sitting down in the living rooms of everyday hard working Mississippians to ask what they need.”
Anderson said although it will be a long week, he is looking forward to the event. He said he wants to be accessible and accountable for the people who need him most.
