The Junior Auxiliary of Picayune will be holding a school uniform giveaway on July 30.
The event will be held at the Margaret Reed Crosby Memorial Library between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., that day.
Junior Auxiliary of Picayune President Jennifer Cutrer said that for the past two to three years the club has received several donations of school uniforms and decided provide them to members of the community.
Cutrer said the club has been active in Picayune since 1967. Every few years members of the club host a community-wide uniform giveaway. The club’s last uniform giveaway was three years ago, she said.
She said that in the past, school counselors would contact the club to help a child in need. But now many schools have their own closets that fill the uniform needs for disadvantaged children.
The event is open to all children in Pearl River County, Cutrer said.
Uniforms will be available in all sizes ranging from small to 3XL, she said.
Once the event is over, left over uniforms will be divided between all three school districts to store in their closets, Cutrer said.
Junior Auxiliary will also accept more uniform donations during Monday’s event, she said.
