Diane Bourgeois Courouleau, age 74, of Carriere, Miss., passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Born Sept. 13, 1950, she was the youngest daughter of Joseph Bartholomew Bourgeois Jr. and Alma Bernice Pope Bourgeois.

Diane was a proud native of New Orleans, La., always quick to tell stories and spread knowledge about the unique food, culture, and music she kept so close to her heart.

Even though she left New Orleans to attend the University of Nebraska, she returned home soon after to undertake a career in accounting and banking.

It was during this time she met the love of her life, John Alvin Courouleau III. They married on May 31, 1974 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

John served 20 years in the United States Air Force, so Diane traveled America and the world as a proud military wife, and mother of two sons: Jeffrey Joseph Courouleau and Trevor Paul Courouleau.

Later in life, her heart grew even fuller with love when Trevor’s son Levi and daughter Avery were born.

Diane enjoyed painting, drawing, and being creative. For over 20 years, she ran an arts and crafts business selling her handmade and handpainted creations.

She was especially renowned for her culinary abilities and any dish Diane made displayed an unrivaled depth of talent, love, and flavor.

Diane also loved puzzles and word searches, especially Jumble and Sudoku.

Even though her health declined in recent years, Diane lived life with grace and curiosity and determination until the very end.

She was the bedrock of the family, and will be missed beyond all measure.

Diane is survived by her husband, John; sons, Jeffrey and Trevor, and grandchildren, Levi and Avery.

Following cremation, a private interment will take place in the family tomb at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans, La.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Diane’s memory.
