Officers from the Poplarville and Picayune Police Departments, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department, and the Poplarville Fire Department visited residents at the Pearl River County Nursing Home to deliver care packages and share uplifting moments with the community’s seniors.

The effort included “You Are Special, Thinking of You” bags containing candy or jello/pudding for specialty diets, coloring and word puzzle books, colored pencils, body wash, hand lotion, and chapstick.

Deputy Hunter Martin of the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department called the event a rewarding experience.

“It was a great experience and a blessing to bring joy to the nursing home residents and put a smile on their faces,” Martin said. “I hope we can continue to bring joy to all of the community in Pearl River County.”

Organizers appreciated the community members and donors who helped create and distribute the gift bags. The event allowed first responders to build positive connections with residents while promoting compassion and care within the county.
