Final Primary Results Set Stage for Picayune’s General Election

The City of Picayune has certified the final results of the 2025 Municipal Primary Election, setting the stage for key races in the General Election on June 3.
In the Republican primary for mayor, incumbent Jim Luke secured the nomination with 714 votes, defeating challenger Jerry Bounds, who received 645.
Incumbent Anna B. Turnage ran unopposed in Ward 1, receiving 419 votes. In Ward 2, Terrilyn L. Griffith won the Republican nomination with 126 votes, ahead of Michael Marks, who garnered 47. Incumbent Janice Miller Stevens also ran unopposed in Ward 3, earning 127 votes. In Ward 5, incumbent Frank H. Ford was narrowly unseated by Josiah Hickman, who won 238 votes to Ford’s 228.
On the Democratic side, Dimitri Johnson received 10 votes in the uncontested Ward 2 race. In Ward 4, incumbent Larry E. Breland defeated David Brumfield, 165 to 95.
All primary winners will appear on the ballot in the June 3 General Election.
The Ward 2 seat remains a three-way contest. Republican nominee Terrilyn L. Griffith, Democratic nominee Dimitri Johnson, and Independent candidate Lynn Bogan Bumpers will appear on the ballot.
In-person absentee voting for the General Election begins Monday, April 21, at Picayune City Hall. Voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
