During its latest meeting, Picayune City Council approved the submission of two grant applications for the city’s skatepark project, moving the initiative forward.
Project advocates Jacob Guthrie and Pete Taggard will fund the remaining costs with the approval secured. The project aims to provide local skaters, BMX riders, and enthusiasts a dedicated space. As fundraising progresses, additional financial goals and timeline details are expected to be released.
Mayor Jim Luke signed a proclamation in other business recognizing March as Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Picayune. The ARC of Pearl River County requested the declaration, which highlights the contributions of individuals with disabilities and encourages inclusion, acceptance, and expanded opportunities.
The next steps for the skatepark project remain dependent on grant approvals and successful fundraising efforts.
