A Picayune woman has been charged with capital murder in the death of her 3-year-old daughter following a police investigation into what authorities are calling a tragic and disturbing case.
On Tuesday, March 18, at approximately 10:18 a.m., officers were dispatched to a home on Crestwood Drive about a deceased child. The victim was later identified as 3-year-old Aurora Enfinger.
Foul play was suspected at the scene, and the child’s death was subsequently ruled a homicide. Detectives obtained a search warrant and began gathering evidence. During the investigation, steroids were also found and recovered from the residence.
Christian and Samantha Enfinger were both arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Two days later, on March 20, Samantha Enfinger was additionally charged with capital murder in connection with Aurora’s death.
“This is a tragic situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the people who cared deeply for Aurora,” authorities said in a statement. “We ask that you pray for those impacted by this horrible crime and never forget this beautiful child.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact Captain Rhonda Johnson at 601-798-7411.
