Victoria T. Mansfield, a longtime resident of Picayune, celebrated her 101st birthday last Wednesday, surrounded by five generations of family, friends, and members of the Bedford community.
Mansfield’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren gathered for the occasion, along with Picayune Mayor Jim Luke, who attended to honor the milestone. The celebration was a testament to Mansfield’s long and vibrant life, which has spanned more than a century of change, resilience, and family dedication.
Born on Feb. 18, 1924, in Thibodaux, La., Mansfield grew up on a sugar plantation before marrying her husband, John Mansfield, in 1945. The couple raised four children while living in Raceland, La., before eventually moving to Mississippi.
A skilled seamstress and cook, Mansfield was known for making clothes for her family and others, as well as crafting pralines that became a beloved tradition among her loved ones.
At 101 years old, she continues to be cherished by those around her, leaving a lasting impact on her family and community.
