Pearl River Central Graduate Among Victims of New Orleans Terror Attack

Matthew Tenedorio, a Pearl River Central High School graduate and audiovisual technician, was among 14 people killed in a New Year’s Eve terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

Authorities said a suspect drove a vehicle into crowded streets as people celebrated the arrival of 2025. Tenedorio, 25, died from injuries sustained in the incident, which also injured dozens of others.

Tenedorio worked in video production at the Caesars Superdome and Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

On Monday, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office escorted Tenedorio’s body back to Slidell. In a statement, the department said, “Today, members of our Traffic Division had the honor of escorting Matthew Tenedorio, one of the victims of the Bourbon Street New Year’s Eve attack, back home to Slidell. With respect and solemnity, they ensured his journey was made with dignity.”

Tenedorio attended Pearl River Central High School in Carriere, where he was involved in school activities and formed lasting connections. Investigations into the attack are ongoing, with officials reviewing security footage and other evidence.
