A Picayune man is facing multiple felony charges after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit Thursday afternoon, January 9, 2025, according to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to a potential domestic incident at approximately 3:30 p.m. near Maddie Lane. Upon arriving at the scene, they observed a white male fleeing the residence, entering a white Ford F-150 pickup truck and leaving at a high rate of speed. Deputies initiated a pursuit that spanned roughly 40 to 45 minutes through the Nicholson and Picayune areas.

During the chase, the F-150 reached speeds ranging from 30 to 90 mph and attempted to evade multiple law enforcement vehicles from the Sheriff’s Office and the Picayune Police Department. Authorities reported that the driver, later identified as Clifton Stephen Michell, 38, struck two law enforcement vehicles and attempted to run over a deputy deploying a spike strip.
