James “Jamie” Lewis Ladner

James “Jamie” Lewis Ladner, a beloved husband, devoted friend, and cherished lifelong resident of Necaise, Miss., passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on Dec. 30, 1967, Jamie lived a life rich in love, faith, and community, leaving a warm legacy for all who knew him. Jamie was united in marriage to his dear wife, Maria Antoinette Bolden Ladner, with whom he shared many happy years filled with laughter, love, and companionship. Jamie found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, including fishing and crabbing, as well as nurturing Maria’s passion for gardening. Their partnership was a testament to love and devotion, a bond that will always be remembered. A faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, Jamie dedicated his life to studying and spreading the word of God. His unwavering faith was a guiding light in his life, and he was well-known for sharing the teachings he held dear with those around him. Known for his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit, Jamie was a cherished member of his family and friends. Jamie is survived by his loving spouse, Maria, who will carry forward his legacy of faith and love. Parents, Lynn Austin Ladner and Wanda Faye Ladner; son, Alex McGill (Michelle); brother, Donald Lynn Ladner (Tracy); sister, Julie Lynne Sokol (Kenneth); a first cousin who is like a sister, Deidre Ladner Lee (Faron); sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn C. McCotter, Althea Young, Jocelyn Wiley (Joe), Pamela Benoit, and James Henry; a host of nieces and nephews, Austin Ladner, Emily Sokol Theriot, Justin Sokol, Jaqueline Ogburn, Jaunita Bagley, Constance Watson, Shwanta Walcott, Dionne Halm, Aretha Logan, Alethea Fairley, John Reaves, Kandice Martin, Blair Young, Amanda Beverly, Natalie Thompson, Joe H. Wiley, Jr., Joy Haley, Joshua Wiley, Stephon Fairley, James Henry, Phyllis Bogan, Rhonda Mann, Eartha Henry, Erica Henry, and Joseph Henry, and a God-daughter, Journie Wiley. Jamie is preceded by his niece, Alayne Ladner Cook. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched with his warm smile and compassionate heart. A funeral for Jamie will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025 for 12 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home located at 815 S. Haugh Ave. Picayune, MS 39466. Visitation to begin at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Necaise Cemetery.
