“Precious Lord, Take My Hand”
On Jan. 18, 2025, Alice Irene James Kelley went home to be with the Lord at the age of 87. She was born on June 2, 1987, in Mount Hermon, La. to the late Nathaniel James and Mythes Estell Magee. A native of Picayune, Miss. and later moved to Pfugerville, Texas.
She left behind four children, Mary James, Frankie James, Eliis James (Anisha James), Wallace James (Annette James); sister, Listra Lewis; brother, Horace James (Pat), and sister-in-law, Kathleen James.
She also left behind 19 grandchildren, Laquinta James, Janice McWilliams (Le Vaughn), Keisha Wallace, JaQuita Goodwin, Danielle Goodwin, Brittany James, Secret James, Genuine James, Jaroy James, Roy Wallace (Patricia), Josiah James, Terrance Ellis James Sr. (Tonilyn), Isiah James, Darrell Evans (Daphne), Charles Melton (Marlyn), Lamont Evans, Darell Melton, Joshue James, 60 plus great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Alice was a woman that loved God. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She was always a hard-working woman. Alice was always providing help to people she loved and in her community in any way that she could. She would provide love, support, food, financial contributions, and shelter. Alice’s joy was her family. She created a family no matter where she went. Her house was always full of love and children.
She preceded death with her sister, Lattie Mae Sandifer; four brothers, Forsace James, Walter James, Bobby James and Curtis James; daughter, Barbara Barnes; three sons, Don James, Jimmy James and Willie Earl James; two grandsons, Ronnie James, and Dwayne James.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. John Guy will be the officiant. The Rev. Wyman Gauldin is the Pastor. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Interment will be in the New Palestine Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
