Two women were arrested Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, following a drug investigation conducted by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations and Narcotics Divisions.
Investigators were conducting an operation near Rosemary Wheat Road when they developed probable cause to contact Stephanie Harris, 29. Upon attempting to locate Harris at her residence, they observed her driving a white Honda sedan with a female passenger. Harris reportedly noticed the investigators and tried to elude them.
Authorities pursued the vehicle and intercepted Harris and her passenger, identified as Laura Perreira, 27, at a neighboring residence while they remained in the car.
With Harris’s consent, investigators searched the vehicle and found a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine containing suspected methamphetamine residue. Additionally, bags of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana were discovered on the ground near the vehicle.
When questioned, Harris and Perreira each claimed the narcotics belonged to the other.
Both women were taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence.
The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
