The Mississippi Republican Party announced Monday that the state’s Presidential Electors convened at the Mississippi Capitol to officially cast all six of the state’s electoral votes for President Donald J. Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance following the 2024 presidential election. Governor Tate Reeves and Secretary of State Michael Watson attended the event.
“Mississippi is proud to cast its six electoral votes for Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance,” said Governor Reeves. “After four disastrous years of the Biden-Harris Administration, Mississippians are fired up to get America back on the right track. January 20th cannot come soon enough. Mississippi looks forward to implementing President Trump’s America First Agenda.”
The Electoral College is a constitutionally mandated process that includes selecting electors, holding meetings to cast votes for President and Vice President, and the subsequent counting of those votes by Congress. There are 538 electors, and a majority of 270 is required to elect the President and Vice President. Each state is allocated electors equal to its number of congressional representatives, which includes four Representatives and two Senators for Mississippi.
Mississippi’s six Presidential Electors were nominated by Governor Reeves and formally selected by the Mississippi Republican Party during its state convention. The electors included former Governor Phil Bryant, Mississippi Public Service Commissioner Chris Brown, State Senators Tyler McCaughan and Ben Suber, and Charlie Stephenson and Terry Reeves.
“This is truly a historic day for our country and a great day for our state,” said Mike Hurst, Chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party. “I sincerely thank our Presidential Electors for their service and our fellow Mississippians for electing Donald J. Trump as President and J.D. Vance as our next Vice President of the United States. Our state and nation are rising, and I could not be more excited for our people.”
The Mississippi Republican Party thanked the Presidential Electors for their dedication to this critical constitutional process.
