Picayune to Honor Veterans with Full Day of Events on Nov. 11

The City of Picayune will host a series of events on Saturday, Nov. 11, to honor Veterans Day. The events will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony and culminate in an evening parade.

The day’s commemorations will start with a wreath-laying ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by a Thanksgiving-style meal at 11 a.m. at the American Legion for veterans and their families.

A Veterans Day parade will go through downtown Picayune at 6 p.m. Participants are invited to line up for the parade at 4:30 p.m., with eastbound streets closing at 4 p.m. The parade will feature a variety of vehicles, including golf carts, vintage and antique cars, and military vehicles. Community members are encouraged to participate; no registration or cost is required to join the procession.

The parade route will start at Kirkwood and Goodyear, proceed to Main Street, turn right on Main, continue to West Canal, and loop back to Goodyear Boulevard.

The Picayune Memorial High School Band, ROTC, and cheerleaders will participate in the parade, adding a spirited display of support for local veterans.
