Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Assists in Apprehension Following Covington Bar Fight

A bar fight on Oct. 19 at the Covington Beer Garden left one man with severe injuries, prompting an investigation by the Covington Police Department that led to the arrest of two individuals from Mississippi. The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department assisted in apprehending the suspects, identified as Nikki Fuega, 28, and Nicholas Gonzales III, 26, both of Carriere, Mississippi.

Fuega faces one felony charge of aggravated second-degree battery under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:34.7, while Gonzales faces one felony charge of second-degree battery under L.R.S. 14:34.1.

“We want visitors and residents to enjoy our amenities without fear of violence, and the Covington Police Department has a zero-tolerance policy for that behavior,” said Covington Police Chief Ferrell. “Senseless violence will not be tolerated in the City of Covington.”
