Foiled Lumber Theft Leads to Arrests in Pearl River County

Deputies from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office apprehended two suspects early Friday concerning a foiled lumber theft on West Union Road. The incident occurred on Oct. 25, 2024, when deputies responded to a call regarding the theft of building materials.

Upon arrival, deputies reviewed photographs of a suspect vehicle captured at the scene. As they investigated, a car matching the description drove past, prompting deputies to canvass the area. The vehicle was subsequently located on Ceasar Road, where deputies observed two men unloading lumber from the vehicle’s roof.

The suspects, Nathan Douglas and Jesse Mutz Jr. were detained, and the lumber and ladder stolen were returned to the owner. A search of the vehicle revealed narcotics paraphernalia.

Douglas and Mutz were taken into custody and face charges of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
